BILLERICA -- Superintendents of Schools Tim Piwowar and Frank Tiano aren't betting hundreds of dollars on the annual Thanksgiving football game, but plenty of school pride (and embarrassment) will be on the line when Billerica and Chelmsford face off Thursday.
Piwowar, Billerica's superintendent, and Tiano, Chelmsford's superintendent, have announced a friendly wager for Thursday's football game.
If the 5-5 Chelmsford Lions win on Thanksgiving, Piwowar will arrive at Chelmsford High School on Dec. 3, wearing some form of Chelmsford attire and congratulating students on their win during lunch.
If the 2-8 Billerica Indians win, Tiano will head to Billerica Memorial High School on Dec. 3, wearing some form of Billerica attire and congratulating students on their win during lunch.
"Though Chelmsford won last Thanksgiving and the rivals' first meeting this year in September (a spirited, high-scoring game at Chelmsford), both superintendents are confident in their teams' ability to be victorious on Thanksgiving and look forward to bringing their counterpart to their home school," according to a press release from Piwowar.
Thursday's game is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Marshall Middle School, 15 Floyd St., Billerica.
