TEWKSBURY -- Officials say a mobile home was destroyed Wednesday evening as firefighters worked for more than two hours to control a large fire there.
Tewksbury Fire Capt. Jon Viscione said his department responded around 9:45 p.m. to the area of 177 or 187 Lakeview Ave. where the Billerica-Tewksbury mobile home park is located. There, Viscione said officials found the home engulfed in flames.
The fire took approximately two-and-a-half hours to contain as oxygen containers inside the home continued to explode in the extreme heat. One firefighter was injured in the incident, though he was treated at the scene for minor injuries after a bad fall and continued to work.
Viscione said Thursday morning two people were living in the mobile home and they are displaced at this time. The mobile home was completely totaled in the event.
Tewksbury police report the Fire Department's arson investigator will continue to look into the cause of the fire or if there was any foul play. The cause remained under investigation.
