CHELMSFORD -- The public has 30 days to offer comments on a proposed 120-unit affordable-housing proposal for 276 Mill Road, near Billerica Road.

The 4.4-acre site, now only a single-family home, would be a so-called 40B project, with 24 of its units given affordability restrictions. The public has a 30-day period to submit comments on the proposal to the public-housing agency MassHousing, Town Manager Paul Cohen told selectmen Monday.

The Mill Road complex is one of two developments of its size proposed for Chelmsford. Chelmsford Woods, a 115-unit complex proposed for Littleton Road across from Chelmsford Commons, received $2.2 million in town funding at Town Meeting in May.

Selectmen Monday also approved a contract for consulting services for a new master plan for the town center. A $30,000 contract was awarded to the Cecil Group of Boston, which will work with the Center Village Master Plan Committee.
