DRACUT -- The Dracut Dirt Dogs baseball team will hold a fundraiser from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the Sports Zone, 1734 Lakeview Ave. featuring raffles for gift baskets, Bruins tickets and a 50/50 drawing, as well as a $10,000 raffle.
The team of 12-year-old boys, the 2012 Cal Ripken District 2 National Champions, is raising $25,000 to travel and play at the Cooperstown National Invitational Youth Baseball Tournament this year.
Fund established for ALS victim
TOWNSEND -- Residents of Townsend and surrounding communities have put together the Glenn Roberts Fund Raising Project to help Roberts, who was recently diagnosed with ALS. Roberts, a 1982 graduate of North Middlesex Regional High School, graduated from Bridgewater State College, and received his master's degree in counseling from Fitchburg State University. He has been employed at Mount Wachusett Community College for the past 20 years and is the Associate Dean of student support services.
The fund raising efforts include a drawing for a Samsung 32-inch flat screen TV, along with other items. Tickets are $5 each or three for $10 and are available at McNabb's Pharmacy, Evans on the Common, the Settle Shop, Cliff's Coffee Shop, Pepperell Pharmacy and Tick's Boutique in Pepperell.
A pasta supper, where the drawing will be held, is planned for Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Meeting Hall,16 Dudley Road, with a snow date of Feb. 9. For information, call Jan Snapp at 978-597-2190 or Cheryl Simoneau at 978-597-6589.
VFW dinner to help veterans programs
PELHAM -- The VFW Post at 6 Main St. will host an all-you-can-eat comfort food dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1. Guests can in attend in comfy cloths, such as PJs, robes, slippers and sweatpants. A prize will be awarded to the best dressed in keeping with the theme. Admission is $8 adults, $5 children under 12. All proceeds benefit veterans programs.
