WEBSTER -- A 44-year-old tractor-trailer driver from Dracut is being investigated in connection with a fatal hit and run in the town late Tuesday night, according to state police.

State police said they were called to the ramp from Cudworth Road to Interstate 395 north in Webster on Tuesday about 11:10 p.m., and found Jeremy Paige, 24, of Webster, suffering massive injuries.

Paige was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester where he was pronounced dead, according to state police.

State police said a preliminary investigation indicates Paige was walking in a travel lane when he was struck by a tractor-trailer that didn't stop.

Troopers determined the suspect truck to a nearby company, LKQ Corp., and determined one of the company's trucks had been in the area at the time. Dispatchers from the company, at state police direction, told the truck's driver to pull over and park until state police could find him.

Police located the truck on Interstate 93 in Woburn early Tuesday morning, and towed it to an impound lot for examination.

State police say an initial investigation indicates that truck was involved in a collision.

State police did not identify the truck driver, but said he was interviewed by state police detectives attached to the Worcester County District Attorney's Office early Wednesday morning.

No charges have been filed but police continue to investigate to determine whether criminal charges will be filed.
