DRACUT -- Comedian Lenny Clarke will grab the microphone and headline the jokes Friday night for the first Comedy Night held to support training police officers through the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC).
The event, being sponsored by the NEMLEC Foundation, begins at 6 p.m. at Lenzi's on Route 110 in Dracut. So far, nearly 400 people are attending, but there are still a handful of tables left. Tickets are $35 each and include dinner. For more information, contact Sharon Crowley from the NEMLEC Foundation at 978-852-3589.
The NEMLEC Foundation supports training programs for the 53 cities and towns that make up the NEMLEC consortium. The training ranges from specialized detective courses, to support for the SWAT team, for NEMLEC's Motor Unit, and for the School Threat Assessment and Response System.
NEMLEC provides regional services for the towns that make up its membership, giving any department within that range immediate access to the resources of 52 other cities and towns.
