Big game: The schoolhouse tradition of students versus teachers is once again making an appearance at Hawthorne Brook Middle School -- not in the classrooms, of course, but on the basketball courts. The annual student/faculty basketball game, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the high school gym, has been the parent-teacher organization's biggest fundraiser for years, said PTO President Heidi Stadler.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13
"Gardening for the Spirit": Pepperell garden Club, Pepperell Senior Center on Nashua Road at 6:45 p.m. Be inspired to create a new space in your garden or reinvent an older space that will bring joy to your soul. Using handouts and slides, the program will help you take a look at different types of gardens and what helps to create or define them. Learn simple tips and tricks that will help you plant a garden designed especially to delight you and will connect your garden to your five senses. Guest fee is $5 or $2 for seniors. SATURDAY, MARCH 16
Day of ballet: Enjoy a perfect day of ballet fun for the budding dancers and story lovers in your family at 11 a.m. when ballerinas from Harvard Academy of Dance take center stage at the Lawrence Library, 15 Main St. Author David Ira Rottenberg will read his picture book, "Gwendolyn, the Graceful Pig," while the dancers perform the story. Kindergarten registration
Varnum Brook Elementary School
Registration for 2013-2014 kindergarten at Varnum Brook Elementary School, 10 Hollis Street, will take place on.
Monday, March 11, from 9-10:30 a.m. and 1-2:30 p.m.
Tuesday, March 12, from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 9-10:30 a.m.
Registration packets are available from the school office. Please have all your paperwork completed and supporting documentation with you when you come to registration.
**Students must be 5 years old as of August 31, 2013 to be eligible for kindergarten.

The Katrina Project
NMRHS and the New Orleans Service Learning Group present "The Katrina Project: Hell and High Water," a short play by Michael Marks and Mackenzie Westmoreland.

Accepting applications for fuel assistance
This program provides financial assistance to low income households to help with heating bills throughout the winter season. When you book your appointment, be sure to ask what you need for documentation prior to your appointment. The Senior Center's front desk has the list and will be glad to assist you.
