LOWELL -- The Lowell District Court will host its second annual holiday party and toy drive on Friday, hoping to secure donations for local children in need. The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, offering a buffet dinner, a DJ and prizes. Tickets are available on EventBrite for $20 each.

Staff at the court, partnering with the state Department of Children and Families, have sponsored 60 children in local foster homes, and money raised will help provide essentials such as clothes and toiletries to these kids.

Dispose of medications, needles

LOWELL -- The Health Department will be holding Medication and Sharps Disposal Day next week.

On Dec. 12 from 2 to 6 p.m. at 341 Pine St., they'll be accepting prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, liquid medications, inhalers, syringes, lancets, and pen and pump needles.

This is for residential disposal only; no commercial disposals will be allowed.

Toy drop benefits Cole's Hope

TEWKSBURY -- The Cole's Hope fifth-annual Christmas Toy Drive benefiting the Tufts Floating Hospital is running through Sunday, Dec. 16.

To help families with children battling cancer this holiday season, people are welcomed to donate unwrapped toys and gift cards for boys and girls up to age 18.

Acceptable donations include infant toys, board games, Legos, video games, dolls, action figures, painting supplies and Matchbox cars. Gift cards to Target, Amazon, Market Basket, Stop & Shop, iTunes, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts and Applebee's are also suggested for donation.

Holiday tea, concert in Groton

GROTON -- The Groton Woman's Club will hold its December meeting, including the annual Holiday Tea and Christmas Concert, at 11 a.m. on Dec. 21 at the Union Congregational Church, 220 Main St., Groton.

According to a release, the highlight of the meeting will be a holiday choral concert by the Groton-Dunstable Regional High School Chorus, directed by Tim Savoy. Hostess chairs for the meeting will be Carly Detwiller, Jane Fry, and Beverly Smith.
