BILLERICA -- A truck driver has yet again not paid attention, or missed a low-clearance sign on Mount Pleasant Street.

A Landhawk Carriers truck smashed into the 11-foot, low-clearance bridge Monday morning, causing a traffic detour near the Commuter Rail station. The driver was not injured, but the truck was significantly damaged.

MBTA inspectors examined the bridge Monday afternoon to determine if there was any structural damage, said Deputy Police Chief Roy Frost.

Trucks hitting the bridge is a constant problem over there, he added.

"There's plenty of signage in the area, but this happens three or four times a year," Frost said.

He chalked it up to people's "lack of attention" and "carelessness."
